Old Business

The fair was successful, we had a lot of people respond to the “What’s Important to you” interactive activity. People were concerned about election security. There were many students that ranged all the way from K-12 to college age that helped rank education as the most important issue. Following education was: Healthcare, Human Rights, Environment, Military/First Responders, Economy/Jobs/Unions, Terrorism, and Criminal Reform. Some comments from booth attendees were: In the future we need to work on a text system and develop a brochure for our platform.

There was a discussion on the approach for trying to register voters. Meghan had a suggestion to organize a Civic’s Fair and partner with the schools to increase awareness and participation among young people. Tom stressed that voter registration should be a focus for our events in the future. Layton suggested taking registration forms to union meetings and introducing ourselves to union members.

There was a discussion on developing a brochure with concise bullet points.

The Pig Roast is in South Pass City this weekend, Meghan and Hollis will be attending.

We are working on keeping events updates and available in advance on our website. Meeting minutes and agendas are also available.

New Business

Gun raffle: Meghan is trying to work out the details for the Labor Day Picnic, she will be contacting Lou Ann Varley.

News Roundup

Tom presented a speech voicing his disappointment in the Democratic party. He mentioned a forum that took place a couple of years ago talking about civility in politics.

Mike Masterson said that the press and Democratic candidates have been calling out Trump. In this area there is the perception among industry workers that republicans are working for them, despite the recent layoffs and declining opportunities for these workers.

Meghan talked about an interaction she had with a member of the Republican party with the topic being: the inactive members of our community in politics is concerning and makes it harder to bring about the changes that are voiced.

50/50 Raffle - Kathy won $42 and donated it back to the party. Layton also donated $20 to the party.

Layton motioned to adjourn, seconded by Lyndsey. All were in favor and the meeting was adjourned at 8:07.
